Our Story
Locust Ridge Farms began as a dream shared by John and Gavin long before it became a reality. Early in our relationship, we talked about building a life centered around hard work, working with our hands, caring for the land, and producing food that could nourish families and strengthen our connection to nature.
Like many people, the COVID-19 pandemic gave us time to reflect on what truly mattered. What had once been a distant dream became a serious goal. We began searching for the right property across Texas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. After years of looking, we even put an offer on a farm on Tiplady Lane. When that opportunity fell through, we were disappointed—but only briefly.
Soon afterward, we discovered what is now Locust Ridge Farms. The historic barn immediately captured our hearts and convinced us that this was where our journey was meant to begin. On September 11, 2022, we became the stewards of this remarkable property and started building the farm we had always envisioned.
What we quickly learned is that farming is both more rewarding and more challenging than we ever imagined. Every season brings new lessons, opportunities, and obstacles. Through hard work, determination, and a deep respect for the land, the farm has grown to include beef cattle, pigs, laying hens, broiler chickens, goats, ducks, and expanding orchards of apples, pears, hazelnuts, and chestnuts.
Today, Locust Ridge Farms is more than a farm—it is our home, our passion, and our commitment to sustainable agriculture. We believe that good food begins with healthy soil, responsible stewardship, and animals raised with care. We are dedicated to creating a place where families can connect with where their food comes from and experience the beauty and simplicity of rural life.
As we look toward the future, our vision extends beyond farming. We plan to add luxury farm cabins, allowing guests to experience the peace, beauty, and restorative power of the countryside that first inspired us. We hope every visitor leaves with a deeper appreciation for the land, agriculture, and the simple joys of farm life.
